In the last few years we have witnessed a massive increase in the use of apps on mobile phones. This has led many companies to create their own apps through which they can share their services and products in an easier way.
Dublin companies and institutions are no exception and I have listed a few apps that will make your life easier in this, the capital of Ireland. For those of us who live in Dublin, let me recommend to you some apps that will help you in your daily routine.
Entertainment and leisure
Transportation is not the only interesting thing we can find on the applications in Dublin, not at all! There are a few more apps that I am sure you will find practical and enjoyable and you won´t regret downloading! Check them out:
Groupon
Attention, shopping addicts! I have found the best and ultimate app to save money! I am talking about Groupon, where you can find excellent offers on all kind of products and services such as a lovely massage, a delicious dinner or beautiful presents for your family and friends (and for yourself too).
Dublin Map and Walks
If you want to discover every single sight in your new city, you need an app like this one: Dublin Map and Walks. I am pretty sure that the best way to see a city is on foot and this app is a mini self-guided tour that will show you the best paths and tracks to follow and includes a lot of information about what you will find along the way. Try it!
Dublin – Travel Guide
Tripwolf is doing an excellent job with its travel guide ap. The layout is really nice and the app is very useful. It contains everything you could possibly need to check out in a new city like Dublin: the best sights, places to visit, attractions, gastronomy, tours and activities!
House
Daft.ie
Looking for a house in Dublin can be a headache. That’s why we recommend this option because you will have all the information you will need to rent a room, house or flat. You can choose according to your budget and the area that you would like to live in.
Social Activities
Would you like to meet people from other parts of the world and share with them your own interests? If so, you MUST create an account on MeetUp. It’s easy, the subscription is free and you won’t find annoying advertisements on the app. You will find activities to do with people who share your own interests, could be politics, sports, culture, trekking, books, technology, languages, etc.
Work
One way to find a job is going to the city centre and visiting the commercial areas and leaving your CV in the places where you see a job advertisement. If you want to beef up your research, you can download this option. It’s the most popular one in Ireland. It’s easy: you only need to create an account, put in your personal details and upload a CV. Then, look for the job you want and apply. The final step: wait. Fingers cross!
Food
If you don’t like cooking or if someday you want to try new food, here you have some options to search by course, restaurant and price. In each app you can see the time that you order will take to arrive, the people who will do the delivery, if you want to give him/her tips and the route of your order. Remember that many options start to receive orders at midday and finish at 10pm.
Dates
If you want to meet people, and why not, become part of a couple, we give you some options. The most popular is Tinder. The app with the flame needs an account, some profile pictures and a good description to make a “match”.
On other hand, Happn is similar to Tinder; just in this app you will be able to meet people with whom your path crosses during your day, having the chance to cross paths with them again.
And the last option is Bumble, the app with the bee’s logo, which allows you to meet people as well. Here, when there is a “match” within a heterosexual couple, the woman can make the first contact while in a homosexual couple either of two can initiate the first match.
NED Training Centre
At NEDTC we realised how great apps are to enhance our activities and services. Therefore, we have recently developed an app that you can download onto your own mobile phone. Check everything related to your attendance, holiday allowance, assessment results, school news and MORE!
